1. The International Architectural Competition Award-Winning Projects Exhibition
The exhibition hall of the preparatory office of "Wei-Wu-Ying Center for the Performing Arts" is located inside Building#267. The exhibition hall was established for the purpose to display the architectural models of the selected teams participated in the International Architectural Competition which began on September 28th 2006. There were forty four architectural teams participated in the competition, and six teams were selected after going through two stages of competition. Among these six teams, the first prize winner was Francine Houben, the second prize winner was Zaha Hadid, and the third prize winner was Kiyoshi Sey Takeyama. The honorable mentions were rewarded to Kris Yao and Jürg Weber, and lastly Takeshi Hagiwara rewarded as the finalist. The architectural models designed by these six teams were displayed in the exhibition hall for visitors' view. The progress of the main building construction will be displayed in the hall too to keep visitors updated with relevant news. Moreover, there are banyan trees all over the area outside the exhibition hall. We have concerts hold in this garden of banyan trees regularly on Saturday and Sunday afternoons for the cultural events lovers in the Southern area.
2. The Space and Functions of The Exhibition Hall
Exhibition Area:
The exhibition area shows the architectural models designed by the six selected teams with campaigns of the teams' design concepts surrounded by. This is an open space ideally for visitors to look around.
Briefing room:
This is a small briefing room located next to the exhibition hall. In this room, documentary films of Wei-Wu-Ying are played regularly, which provide visitors the information on the emergence and purpose of the main building and the photographs showing the competition process.
Exhibition tours:
There are volunteers in the exhibition hall to give tours to the visitors. Visitors will have more understandings on the main architecture through the tours.
